The only
treatment for cataracts is surgery.
Nowadays, ophthalmic surgery is performed at an early
stage of the cataract, when modern means (equipment)
can be used.
Before the surgery, a complete eye check-up is performed
along with a measurement to determine the power of
the lens to be implanted (biometrics).
The surgery is performed using Legacy 20.000, the
latest American equipment through which the opaque
lens is extracted by Phaco-emulsification and the
artificial foldable lens is inserted.
• Due to its small size, the incision (3 mm)
is self-sealing and does not require sutures, which
enables fast healing and decreases the post-surgical
astigmatism;
• Using this type of lens diminishes the risk
to develop a secondary cataract;
• This procedure ensures fast post-operative
recovery and healing of the eye;
• The procedure is ambulatory (does not require
hospitalisation);
• A local anaesthetic is used (an injection);
• The procedure takes about 15 minutes;
• The bandage must be worn only during the first
night after the surgery;
• The patient can resume routine activities
the very next day;
• The treatment consists exclusively of using
eye drops for 30 days;
• Post-operative complications are generally
minimal and curable.
